This was a made up route, not the official volksmarch route. Last time we parked for free at the Capitol Visitor's Parking Garage, not so this time. They charged us $10 to park because there was a swim meet (somewhere in Austin).

 

Sculpture honors not only the veterans, but also persons irrefutably affected by deployments - the families.

Goddess of Liberty atop the capitol is a replica of the original designed by Elijah E. Myers and removed Nov. 24, 1985.
