Copper Breaks State Park
10/13/19

Another event hosted by the West Texas Trail Walkers. We did an out/back 4 miles in this park (which you would think was beautiful if you hadn't just walked at Caprock Canyon the day before).

We arrived around 8 am and the sun wasn't up good yet.

Walk registration table had lots of activity going on.

As we pass the lake the sun is beginning to top the hill and gives the reeds in the lake a colorful glow.

Farther along the sunshine has reached the whole hill beyond the lake.

Ed and I were still walking in the shade of the hills.

A trail off to our left (not the one we walked on).

This is the trail we are following.

The hills above us now have sunlight on them.

Yep, we are still in the shade.

That white glow off to our right is the dam's spillway.

Another view of our trail.

Robert is waiting at the checkpoint for us.

Yellow wildflowers along the trail.

A sign telling us the headquarters is back the other way.

We climbed this hill and then turned around and returned to the start.

It is now light enough you can see the white mixed into the red hillside.

Another view of the cliffs along the trail.

Coming from this direction you can catch a glimpse of the Pease River.

Didn't notice the pyramid when we were going the other direction.
